On Sunday, October 17th, the Sullivan County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) participated in a Simulated Emergency Test (SET) as part of a nationwide exercise sponsored by the Amatuer Radio Relay League (ARRL). This test requires the passing of messages throughout our County without the use of repeaters or established infrastructure.

Radio Operators established direct contact with other radio operators in order to pass their message using the standard Radiogram format to ensure accuracy. Nine stations participated and passed their traffic to the net control station. Information was reported to the Eastern New York ARES officials via Winlink radio email. We thank all participating stations for their support and efforts to make today a success!
